McKinna Sheetmetal use the latest SolidWorks software for design, product development and prototyping. We have a team of designers with a varied skill set including Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering and Fabrication Trade Engineers. Together with SolidWorks this allow us to communicate the design of the product with the client to give them an understanding of how the product will function and look. This information can be then taken directly into our CAM software, AP100, to produce laser/punch programs for production of the item, whilst optimising sheet usage and minimising waste.
Prototypes are often crucial prior to a production run, ensuring the product performs to specification. This process gives us and the client an opportunity to improve or rectify any issues that may not be foreseen or perceptible on paper. During the design and prototyping phase, we can advise on specific ways that reduce manufacturing time and costs. By looking at ease of assembly, nesting of parts on sheet metal, folding and join simplifying we can achieve the desired design and see where these can be reduced therefore cutting costs on future builds.
